Crew Updates

Written by
Howard
As some of you may have noticed, there have been some script changes lately. We spent a lot of time figuring out what caused the much hated vehicle desync bug that would cause players not be able make use of their vehicles, and we were eventually able to fix the issue once and for all. The government faction has returned and has been rescripted. The LSPD has a new customized interior made by our mappers and a new substation in Marina. Oh, and if you're lost then be sure to try out the /whereami command. It's pretty specific about where you're at.

Now what this thread is actually about is the crews update. We did not release any information about this and held a short discussion in the admin section about what this system should look like. The idea was to have rank 5's in families in charge of their own crews, within the family. Each crew would have their own hangout spots and would be working together to make money and/or complete tasks for the family.

The system is somewhat similar to divisions in factions, but instead each crew has a rank 5 in charge that has the ability to invite and kick rank 4 and below from their crew. Crew members are also be able to quit a crew and move to another crew. Each family has a maximum of 4 crews. It is entirely up to the family how they want to make use of the crews system. Whether it's just a group of friends working together or crews with specific tasks in the family: i.e. a crew dedicated to collecting materials for the family, a crew that works on having the family safe stocked with drugs, a crew that specializes in doing hits for the family (when someone leaves the family for example), a crew that hijacks trucks and puts a percentage of their earnings in the family safe, a crew that grows lots of weed and smuggles drugs or anything else you can think of really.

While it's more intended for in-character purposes, it's a system that can also be used for points. It can help with organizing during point and rushing into point. Crews can be dedicated or assigned to a specific task in the point. You could have a ground team, a crew that all have arms dealer job and give out weapons, a roof/air team with snipers, M4s and AK-47s, or a crew that focuses almost entirely on vesting.

It is a system that families can choose to not use at all or make use of however they want. It is entirely up to each family what exactly they want to use crews for and how they want to organize them. Whether they are competitive or closely tied together. It can play an important role in organizing larger families, but is less significant to smaller families.

You can see all the commands related to crews with the /crewhelp command:

  • /createcrew is a rank 6 command and allows a family leader to set a leader for a crew (only rank 5+ can be crew leaders) and pick a name for the crew. As stated before, each family can have a maximum of 4 crews.
  • /disbandcrew is a rank 6 command and allows a family leader to disband one of the four crews.
  • /crewinvite is a command for crew leaders and allows them to invite family members into their crew.
  • /kickcrew is a command for crew leaders and allows them to kick family members from their crew.
  • /quitcrew allows you to quit the crew you're part of.
  • /cr allows you to chat with your crew.

When you are part of a crew this will be displayed in family chat:

It will also display in the /families command:

And on the second line of your /stats:

And finally there's also a special perk for family/gang members that are part of a crew. This is to encourage usage of this system and to only reward those who actively take part in activities in the family by working for their family's crews. You will be paid $100 per rank if the funds are available in the family bank. Which means that if you're rank 1 you will get paid $100 every paycheck, if you're rank 2 you will get paid $200, if you're rank 3 you will get paid $300 and so on.

In the example below I am a rank 1 and thus I get paid $100:

However, if the funds are not available in the family bank then you will not get paid and receive the following message:

The funds in the family bank can be filled up by gang members that deposit money into it or by money earned from points. If you do not deposit money into your family bank and/or do not win any points then none of your crews will be getting paid through this system. This is to encourage family leaders to maintain a healthy fiscal plan that keeps their members paid and happy.

We hope you like it and have fun!

Keeping your account secure

Keeping your account secure
It has recently come to our attention that a childish server owner has released password(s) of player accounts which are registered on their server and on ours, we'd like to take this chance to remind you of a few things:

We will never decrypt your password
First of all, with the cryptography technique we use, Whirlpool, it is impossible to 'decrypt' the password hash. We will never try to decrypt your password, as it's impossible, and we will never ever implement techniques to bypass password encryption. In short, we're not childish and we're not going to try get your player account passwords, and we never will try to do so.

Make sure you use a unique password for every important account you have
Regardless of where you are, we strongly advise you use a unique password with high strength to ensure your account is secure.

If you need some help with coming up with a unique and random password, please visit this link.

Who's at risk?
You are at high risk of this immature and childish behaviour if you have previously played at US-RP, please visit this link if you wish to learn more about the subject.

Hunger Games & Maximus Club

Return of the Hunger Games!

Starting today you will be able to find the Hunger Games entrance back at Santa Maria Beach near the pier with the Ferris wheel. It will be available for the rest of the summer!

A new round will be started every 5 minutes (so long as there's not a round currently in progress). The objective of the Hunger Games is quite simple: Survival of the fittest; the last man standing wins. Whoever survives will be awarded a prize.

You will be dropped on an island about the size of a Red County town without any weapons. Throughout the island you can find weapons and pick them up. You're allowed to make teams and heal yourself or others, but in the end there can only be one winner!

May the odds be ever in your favor.

Grand Opening of the Maximus Club!

As of today you will be able to find the brand new Maximus Club (new donator club / lounge) behind Alhambra at Idlewood.
